NaturAle Cusco

Sometimes when you find a restaurant that works, you stick to it. This is especially the case when considering celiac disease. This was exactly why we went multiple times to NaturAle Pizza when we were in Cusco. They are not a gluten free restaurant, but do offer many gluten free pizzas as well as the option of gluten free calzones, gluten free lasagna’s, nacho’s, gluten free empanada’s, a gluten free soup, and even gluten free waffles. In short, a lot. And we tried a lot.

During our stay in Cusco we had their Free_Chosa pizza (39 sol/$10,36) twice. It is a simple but delicious gluten free pizza with basil, ham, olives, and tomato as topping. The other pizza we tried was the Free_Chicken: tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, chicken, mushrooms, and bacon (sol 55/$14,62). The Chosa was our favorite. We decided to eat the pizza’s in the sun on a bench on Plaza San Blas. This was wonderful and apparently looked great to others as well since we were asked by passing people where we got the pizza to do the same.

On another day we ate in. I had the chicken soup or Dieta de Pollo for 20 sol/$5,31 as appetizer, a “light and perfect chicken soup” with vegetables and thin noodles (“fideos finitos”). This was followed by the gluten free Lasaña Clasica (40 sol/$10,63) which was a typical meat lasagna, although they also had a vegan one with vegan cheese. Lastly, their Calzone Del Jardin (45 sol/$11,96) had mozzarella, Andino cheese, parmesan, spinach, bell pepper, mushrooms, baked tomatoes, and potato chips in it.

If you ever find yourself in Cusco and are searching for a good gluten free option, moest definitely visit NaturAle.

Plaza San Blas. Can you spot the entrance to the coca museum?
