Deksels – Leiden

Today, I visited Deksels in Leiden. I ordered a tea and a latte macchiato to take away. I wasn’t sure if I could order a lunch here but it turned out they had gluten-free bread available. While I was waiting for the order to be prepared in the kitchen, I told one of the staff members that I write blogs to raise awareness for celiac disease and asked her if I could take a group photo to put on my website! She kindly asked if anyone would like to be in the photo and this was met with great enthusiasm! After the group photo was taken, Gabriel talked to me and instructed me to go outside to promote the delivery option ‘bezorging met de bakfiets’ (see the front photo of this blog!), to which he takes care of! It was less crowded today in the restaurant since almost all roads were closed towards Deksels due to the NAVO-top. Nick asked me if I had paid already and I hadn’t paid yet. Nick took care of the bill, I added a tip too and used my card to pay. Nick asked for supervision to take the money out of the cash register and subsequently he put the coins into the tipping box for everyone. Very honest! The kitchen staff brought me my order, while another team member prepared the drinks. As I was about to leave, Gabriel mentioned that Gerard Joling had visited the restaurant before and that he had given the service, the food, and the ambience a 9,5! I couldn’t agree more! Curious to know what I ordered? View the photo’s below!
