O’yo — Ghent

Ghent trip in 2022 on a grant from Leiden University. I found a perfect little spot to start your day with a gluten-free breakfast. They served this heavenly-tasting mango chia seed pudding. It tasted too good not to return for another bite. The next day, I had no time to visit the restaurant in person and ordered in. We were staying at a beautiful Airbnb full of charisma. We encountered one problem. Later, I discovered that the problem was at the kitchen counter, though hidden. Namely, there was a fruit fly infestation. Normally, when this happens, there is a source. A source of ripe or rotten fruits. I was determined to find the source, because the fruit flies were very annoying. I eventually lifted the big wooden plank that was lying on the counter and underneath there was a spread of red wine. I cleaned it and, luckily, the number of flies lessened. Fun fact, did you know that fruit flies often lay about five eggs at a time. These eggs hatch into larvae in as little as 12 hours to 24-30 hours, depending on conditions. I would suggest tackling it while you can! Anyhow, I preferred to dine at the restaurant than to get it delivered, but the mango chia pudding still tasted heavenly! I do believe it’s their signature item on their breakfast menu!

Order the mango chia pudding! I added a cappucino with soy milk plus there’s a little treat from the shop visible.
