SandCBar
Yesterday, it was awfully hot in Leiden. After being let down, I drove to Voorschoten to pick up my stepmother to spend time at the beach with dinner and drinks! I ended it with a quick dive in the water, though I would have loved to swim under and above the water a bit. We parked the car and walked up to SandCBar without a reservation. The place was packed but in the lounge area there was room to sit. Before we took a seat, I asked about the gluten-free options. The waitress told me they serve gluten-free bread, but in addition, she said that most of the items contain or contain traces of gluten, as in all the fried bites! I asked if they had any fish dishes on the menu (since you can usually get a grilled or pan-fried fish gluten-free!). On top of mind, she replied that the catch of the day and the steak were gluten-free (but without the fries)! We walked up to the lounge area, took a seat and I opened up about some stuff that had happened last year. She responded very warmly, positively and with curiosity! In the meantime, our drinks took a while to arrive and weren’t served yet when our dinner plates were brought to our table. I mentioned this and within a matter of minutes we got our drinks! The wind was quite strong at the place where we were lounging and my stepmother’s allergy started to play up. That’s why we took our plates and walked to a picknick table outside the dining area. I asked if the waitress could bring our drinks to the picknick table alongside me.
