Saffron & Rose Ice Cream – Westwood

I have been told that Persia is what Italy is to Europe when it comes to ice cream. Needless to say that I had to try this ice cream and especially some of their signature flavours if at all possible. I entered the Saffron & Rose at Westwood without knowing if I was able to buy an ice cream at their place but Arnoud had told me that others celiacs did have positive experiences at another location!

We entered the shop and talked to the lovely lady scooping up everybody’s favourite flavours! I explained to her that I have celiac disease and asked if she can wash the spoon. She did and she replied that she would scoop away the used ice cream layers and use the fresh ice cream from underneath to minimise cross-contamination. I was very happy to hear this! I asked about her favourite flavours and after three sample of White Rose Ice Cream, Saffron & Pistachio and Jasmine Ice Cream we decided to go with the most ordered one which was the Saffron & Pistachio and her personal favourite which was the Passion Fruit Ice Cream! I highly recommend that you visit their shop and try out some of their delicious ice cream flavours, especially the ones that I took which are according to their legenda on the wall a combination of flavours with their origin in New-Zealand, USA & Iran!
