Chocolate hazelnut spread — better than So Vegan So Fine?

While I was in Yogya, I was struggling to find gluten-free alternatives, as I mentioned earlier in the blog – fruit lover’s paradise. There was one organic shop — Peppermint Natural & Organics— that had a few sweet and savoury treats that were allium-free as well. Most of them were delicious — even more so, because this was at times the only food I consumed besides the fruit! Crunchier and tastier treats than the ones I have found up until now in the EU. Later, I ordered a lot of gluten-free pasta from a restaurant very close to the apartment I was staying at — I will write a separate blog about this restaurant, named Pizza Aroma Italia, soon! However, from mbak Afni, mas Eko, Ajeng, Kesa & Gendis I got a full bag of gluten-free goodies from Peppermint Natural & Organics. One on the products was the Chocolate Hazelnut Spread — Melts Indonesia. Personally, along with the So Vegan So Fine Chocolate Paste, they hold the number one position for the best vegan hazelnut spread I’ve tried! It quite literally melts in your mouth. When you zoom in on the third photo they compare the ingredients of their spread with an unknown hazelnut spread starting with a n…… followed with six times an asterisk. I have a hunch with which brand they are comparing it with and I guess you do too! To read my thoughts on this I’ll refer you to my blog about the hazelnut spread mentioned above. So next to the taste the brand states that it’s also a healthier option!

The style of the brand fits its purpose — clean and clear. Its design is inviting and makes you want to discover more! The gluten-free and vegan logos are, in my opinion, clearly indicated. They offer a wide variety of flavors. To explore their options, prices, and the story behind the brand — check out their website!

Safety: If I am correct, there is no national government label for gluten-free products in Indonesia. For local Indonesian products without an internationally recognized certification, it is important to carefully check the ingredients list or to contact the manufacturer for more information ensure the equipment that is used producing (e.g., the hazelnutspread) is gluten-free as well! I will contact them and ask them if they can shed some light on this.
