Wurstküche – Los Angeles
After a long day of working and showing my father around in LA, we decided to go to a place for something similar to a version of a hotdog. He flew via Copenhagen and Arnoud told him that there was this Danish hot dog with remoulade sauce that he needed to taste. Coincidentally, they were on the same flight with a layover in Denmark. Once landed, the store was nowhere to be found. Therefore, we looked for a similar option in LA, plus I have been wanting to eat some fries for a while.
No vegetarian or vegan options were gluten-free but luckily they had a gluten-free option that didn’t contain allium and was made entirely with chicken. The best part about this place are the fries, which are made separately in a dedicated fryer and if you request them without salt, they’re delicious! The curry ketchup was the only option that seemed to have some but to contain the least amount of allium, and together with it being gluten-free, I opted for the curry ketchup, sauerkraut en spicy jalapeno peppers to go with the sausage. They don’t offer gluten-free buns. What they do when you mention that you’re a celiac is to make sure they wrap your option in foil to avoid from getting it into contact with gluten. The staff is knowledgable about celiac disease, helpful and for the fancier they have a gluten-free beer as well!
